Most turret sleeving jobs are completed in just 2–3 days of machine downtime. Our engineers come to your facility — no need to ship your machine anywhere.
What Amada models does TSI work on?
TSI works on virtually all Amada turret punch presses. We primarily service Pega, Coma, Vipros, EM, EMK, and EMLK models, but can also work on Aries, Apelio, Octo, and Vela machines.
How much does turret sleeving cost?

What is a turret sleeve?
A turret sleeve is a USA-made hardened steel sleeve that is installed into a worn turret station bore. It restores the station to exact OEM tolerances, eliminating misalignment, burring, and excessive sharpening of your tools.

The Sleeving Process

How does turret sleeving work?
TSI's field engineers bore out each worn turret station to a precise oversized diameter, then install a USA-made hardened steel sleeve that restores the bore to exact OEM tolerances. The entire process is done on-site at your facility, and sleeves can be replaced in the future by your own maintenance personnel.
How long does the turret sleeving process take?
Most jobs require only 2–3 days of machine downtime. TSI provides free estimates within 12 hours and typically schedules work within 30 days.
What is the difference between thick and thin turret sleeving?
Thick and thin describe the turret itself. Thick turret machines include the Pega 344/345/357, Coma 567, most Vipros, and the EM, EMK, EMZ, AE and Apelio families. Thin turret machines include the Pega 244, Pega 255, Vipros 255, Vipros 2510 King and Aries 222 and 245 — and several of those are thin turrets built for thick tooling, which is the distinction that catches people out. Turret style and tooling style are quoted separately, so a machine has to be identified on both counts. Tonnage will not tell you: several 22-ton Amada machines run thick turrets. Every model page on this site states which turret that machine carries; if you are unsure, send us the model and serial number and we will confirm it.

Auto-Index Refurbishment

What causes auto-index station failure?
Auto-index stations rotate tools to precise angles using gears, bearings, and rotary encoders. Constant rotation wears these components over time, leading to angular drift, indexing errors, alarm codes, and parts punched at wrong angles.
Can auto-index refurbishment be combined with turret sleeving?
Yes. TSI frequently combines auto-index refurbishment with turret sleeving during the same service visit for maximum value and minimal downtime.

Is it better to overhaul or replace an Amada punch press?
A complete overhaul costs a fraction of a new machine ($100,000–$500,000+), uses the same footprint, requires no new tooling investment, and your operators are already trained. TSI restores your machine to like-new condition on-site.
What does a complete overhaul include?
TSI's complete overhaul includes turret sleeving of all stations, X/Y ball screw replacement, LM guide rail restoration, clutch and brake rebuild, work holder clamp replacement, new guide keys, springs, collars, and upgraded FANUC control replacement.

How much does an Amada upper turret replacement cost?
It is made up of four costs: the turret assembly, 4 to 5 days of Amada field labour, rigging, and freight. Amada does not publish pricing, so we do not quote a figure we cannot verify. Should I replace my Amada upper turret or have it sleeved?
If the machine is sound and the problem is worn bores, sleeving is faster and less disruptive: 2 to 3 days in place versus a 12 to 16 week lead time plus 4 to 5 days of installation. Replacement makes sense when the turret plate is cracked or damaged beyond bore wear. Read the full answer →
